Hualien County Health Bureau Director Chu Chia-Hsiang has long been dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of local residents. To enhance public health awareness and advance early preventive healthcare, the bureau supported the organization of the “Fuli Care for Thousands, Health for All – NHI 30 Free Screening Campaign.” The event, spearheaded by Harley Riders Utopia, was co-hosted by the National Health Insurance Administration, Hualien County Health Bureau, Fuli Township Health Center, Liver Disease Prevention and Treatment Research Foundation, Chishang Hao Clinic, Dulan Clinic, and Biomedica Corporation.

The initiative focused on cancer screening combined with telemedicine and home-based healthcare promotion, integrating government and private sector resources to extend healthcare accessibility into local communities. This allowed Hualien residents to conveniently assess their personal health conditions.

Director Chu emphasized that Hualien’s vast and mountainous geography makes it difficult for remote residents to access medical resources. Hence, the county government actively promotes diverse health programs to ensure that “every Hualien resident can receive timely healthcare right in their hometown.” This event embodied that very concept of “zero-distance healthcare.”

The event site was bustling with energy as participants eagerly registered for free medical services, including abdominal ultrasound, oral mucosal exams, blood tests, musculoskeletal ultrasound, retinal exams, Pap smears, mammography, and AI-powered osteoporosis and sarcopenia screening. The enthusiastic turnout reflected the strong health awareness and community spirit among Hualien residents.

Director Chu personally attended the event, expressing strong support for local health initiatives and commending Biomedica and other co-organizers for their ongoing dedication to medical public welfare and grassroots healthcare advancement through AI technology.

Among the highlights was Biomedica’s AI-based bone and muscle diagnostic analysis system (AIXA) — capable of generating a precise bone density and muscle health report in just six seconds using a single X-ray image. During the event, 128 Hualien residents completed AI-assisted osteoporosis screenings, gaining instant insights into their bone health, earning widespread praise from Fuli participants.

Director Chu noted that AI technology not only boosts screening efficiency but also enables healthcare professionals to focus more on disease prevention and health management, helping residents identify potential risks early and reinforcing the vision of “prevention over treatment.” The Health Bureau will continue integrating medical technology with local resources to deliver more accessible, community-oriented healthcare services, bringing smart medicine into every corner of Hualien.

Thanks to the collective efforts of all partners, the “Health for All” community screening event concluded successfully, filled with smiles and gratitude. Both elderly and young participants felt the Health Bureau’s genuine care and progress in health promotion. This cross-sector collaboration not only strengthened Hualien’s healthcare capacity but also symbolized the unwavering commitment of public and private sectors to protect the health of the people of Hualien.
